February is Black History Month and we couldn’t think of a better way to celebrate than by enjoying the groundbreaking artistic and cultural contributions that came out of the Harlem Renaissance. Writers such as Counted Cullen and Langston Hughes, painters including Jacob Lawrence and Romare Bearden, and musicians and composers such as Duke Ellington and Bessie Smith, became widely known during this time as leaders of artistic innovation within the African American community.
