Iowa Public Televisions’ Ready for School Initiative will allow 300 childcare providers to take the PBS TeacherLine online Raising Readers course, Preparing Preschoolers for Success course for FREE within the 2014-2015 school year. IPTV is looking for care providers interested in this opportunity.

Adult Learning Spotlight—Kirkwood Community College
Kirkwood Community College offers Adult Education and Literacy programming to students in the Kirkwood Service Area. No student in the Kirkwood Service area is more than thirty minutes away from Adult Education opportunities.
Beginning January 2, 2014, Iowa will begin to offer the HiSET® assessment for high school equivalency, replacing the GED® as the test-based option to earn a high-school diploma. All students who have not completed and passed the GED® by December 13, 2013 will be required to start over with the HiSET® assessment. Kirkwood Community College offers HiSET® preparation at each of its learning centers. Select IPTV staff have returned to Johnston from Atlanta, GA after attending the 2013 NETA Conference. NETA is the National Educational Telecommunications Association that allows staff members to network with others and learn about current practices and resources. IPTV staff were privileged to listen to guest speakers who shared their positive experiences using those resources that public television can provide and look forward to sharing those experiences and resources with our viewers and educators.
