Both the House and Senate Commerce Committees are moving legislation to establish a date certain to end analog transmission, tentatively set for the end of 2008. Public television continues to play a leading role in the digital transition from the standpoints of technology and policy. Public stations' chief advocate in Washington will discuss PTVs agenda and the latest developments in Congress. He also will comment on the industry's successful (so far) efforts to preserve federal funding and encourage new funding for the use of DTV for homeland security and education.
