Version 1 of the Public Broadcasting Metadata Dictionary was officially published on April 1, 2005. The core of 48 elements is intended to satisfy the broadest range of needs for describing media items across public broadcasting communities. At the same time, the PBCore developers fully realized that extensions to the core would quickly arise in order to satisfy local priorities and national initiatives. In this session, PBCore representatives will discuss specific plans for assisting organizations to use PBCore accurately and appropriately, share strategies for integrating PBCore into public television and radio cataloging and distribution activities, discuss mapping PBCore data to other prominent metadata schemas, and highlight early adoption efforts by stations and libraries.
