Ready To Learn
Ready To Learn is public television's contribution to our nation's most critical education goal: Ensuring that all children will enter school ready to learn.
Ready To Learn in Iowa encourages adults to extend a child's learning by linking concepts from PBS KIDS programs to reading, math, science, and other learning activities.
Components of Iowa's Ready To Learn service include:
- PBS KIDS Programming features quality, non-violent, non-commercial, educational children's television programming broadcast free of charge to every household in Iowa. Arthur, Between the Lions, Clifford the Big Red Dog, Dragon Tales, Reading Rainbow, and Sesame Street are some of the most popular award-winning, and engaging children's programs available today.
- Online resources and a monthly electronic newsletter are available for early care and education providers and families:
- Book Clubs distribute free books and training to support family literacy efforts for low-income families and early care and education providers in an effort to make books an important part of young children's lives. During the 2007-08 program year, IPTV worked with more than 130 sites across Iowa. Each site conducts eight book club sessions during the year.
