Explore More 2004 Summer Workshops for Iowa Teachers

Course Title
Inquiry and Iowa Issues in your Classroom with IPTV’s Explore More Project

Teachers: Grades 6-12 science, language arts, social studies, math; Technology/Computer Teachers; Media Specialists; Technology Directors

Course Description: Join other innovative teachers in your area to connect inquiry and local issues to your curriculum using IPTV's award-winning multimedia project, Explore More. Get your students thinking critically about timely issues such as genetic engineering, the future of energy, sustaining the Loess Hills, and water quality. Investigate Web sites, interactive DVDs, ICN events, and other technology resources and how they relate to your curriculum.

In this course, you will learn about inquiry and problem-based instructional models, then share ideas, strategies and plans to integrate real world issues to the areas of science, social studies, language arts and math using compelling technology resources. Working by yourself or in a group, you will design a plan to integrate Explore More content and technology resources into your existing curriculum.  In short, you will leave classroom-ready. This course has inspired and excited Iowa teachers from science, math, agriculture, TAG/ELP, social studies, technology, home school and more.

All participants will receive a FREE complete classroom set of interactive DVDs, videos, and curriculum resources.

This workshop, aligned with Iowa Teaching Standards, is available for relicensure/professional development and graduate credit. For more information, contact your AEA.
