Transcript: Coal's Role
The most important aspect of coal-fired energy production is shipping the coal to the plants. Iowa is wonderfully located. We have railroad access and we have very cost-effective coal supplies in Wyoming. So we ship it into the plant. We dump it. We burn it. And that burning process fires turbines and those turbines, by spinning, produce the electricity and we put it onto high voltage transmission lines and deliver it across the state.
