Hydropower Benefits (David Elschlager, Ameren Hydropower Plant Spokesman)

Water keeps the power flowing at David Elschlager's plant. Hear how hydropower fits into the future of energy.

Transcript: Hydropower Benefits

Hydropower has an economic advantage in that it is relatively cheap to produce. Of course we have no fuel to purchase like a coal-fired plant which must purchase and transport its fuel. It's also flexible. It can be started quickly and the load can be changed very quickly. As you can see in the plant behind me, there are no emissions. There's no smoke, no particulates, no greenhouse gases, and as long as it keeps on raining, it's going to be a renewable source.
