Transcript: Energy and the Environment

Given our current technology and given the growth in our world, we're on a collision course with the environment. This is not a short term problem, and it's not going to be solved by policies alone. It needs technology and it needs acceleration of the technology. Technology is all moving in the right direction, making the world cleaner, leaner, and lighter. Ultimately we want to decouple the growth of the economy from the use and consumption of resources -- natural resources. That way we can grow; everybody can live a better life without destroying the planet; and that's really where we need to go.
