Horrible Hogs
In a 1985
experiment, a group of pigs had the gene for human growth hormone
engineered into their DNA. The intent of the experiment was to produce
hogs that would grow bigger, faster, and without increasing their
feed. The results of the experiment were not good. The hogs had improperly
functioning immune systems; their skeletons were not able to carry
their body weight; and, the hogs were sterile. The experiment was
abandoned. |
