integrated pest management

Pronunciation:  in-tuh-grA-tid pest man-uhj-muhnt

Definition :This is a type of pest control that is easier on the environment than traditional chemical-only pest control. It uses a combination of ecologically friendly techniques, including: natural predators, botanical insecticides, crop rotation, and the physical removal of certain pests.

Facts: The idea isn't to kill off all pests, but to keep pests under control.

Often integrated pest management takes more money and labor to set up, and results aren't always immediate.
