Transcript: Acquire a Sense of Place

Often times, people think that the Loess Hills in Iowa are what you see when you're driving along Interstate 29 when you look to the East. Well, there are the Loess Hills. Well, we here in Sioux City live in the Loess Hills. We're standing in the Loess Hills right now. You can see the development of the city occurred right in the Loess Hills. We're looking at the Loess Hills. I think it's important for the children to get out there -- to acquire a sense of place -- where they grew up, where are their roots - a more organic sense of education of where they're from. And I think the more we realize where we're from and what we live in, we start to appreciate it. Then we start to protect it.
