About Intelligent Talk Television
Intelligent Talk Television is the result of a unique partnership among Iowa Public Television (IPTV), Iowa Public Radio (IPR) and the state’s institutions of higher learner. Each year Iowa’s colleges and universities bring speakers to their campuses as part of the academic calendar. Faculty, students and the general public in the communities near the college come to campus to hear well-known—and not so well-known—artists, authors, entrepreneurs, scientists, historians and others. Every day Iowa Public Radio brings guests into the studios to discuss relevant topics and issues that affect Iowans. Intelligent Talk Television extends the reach of these events.
Through a unique partnership funded by Corporation for Public Broadcasting (CPB) IPTV, IPR and Iowa’s colleges and universities collaborate to bring these speakers to more Iowans through statewide broadcasts on IPTV-Digital. Iowans in small towns and rural areas as well as those living in university communities have access to the same lively, provocative events once available only to those who are lucky enough to live near the campuses. Additionally, some programs are streamed on the Intelligent Talk Television Web site.
Students and faculty members play a crucial role in the Intelligent Talk Television project as faculty members provide supervision and guidance to students who record the events and edit the video for broadcast. IPTV production staff offer support to students through mentoring and internship opportunities.
