About Iowa's Star Schools Project
From 1992-2005 the Iowa Distance Education Alliance: Iowa's Star Schools Project demonstrated and supported the use of a statewide telecommunications network for K-12 education. Iowa's teleconferencing network, called the Iowa Communications Network (ICN), provides full motion, two-way interactive video, data (Internet) and long distance voice services. For the last five years of the project, a competition for PK-8 schools supported access to distance learning technologies through Connectivity Site Contracts.
