Training Sessions Regarding E-rate Have Been Scheduled

The E-rate application process for funding year 2009 (2009-2010 school year) is tentatively scheduled to begin in November. In order to prepare for the annual application, the Iowa Department of Education (DE) will offer a series of training sessions through the Iowa Communication Network (ICN) classrooms beginning in October. The first training sessions are designed to provide basics of the E-rate program and are particularly important for those individuals new to the E-rate program. The other two sessions are designed for all district/school/public library E-rate applicants.

E-rate 101: Introduction to E-rate (designed for E-rate newcomers)

All sessions are repeats and are from 3:30-4:30 p.m.: Tuesday, October 7; Thursday, October 9; and Wednesday, October 15.

E-rate 102: Filing form 470 (for new and returning E-rate contacts)

All sessions are repeats and are from 3:30-5:00 p.m.: Thursday, October 23; Tuesday, October 28; Wednesday, October 29; Wednesday, November 5.

E-rate 103: Filing form 471 (for new and returning E-rate contacts)

All sessions are repeats and are from 3:30-5:00 p.m.: Thursday, November 20; Tuesday, November 25; Wednesday, December 3; Thursday, December 11.

To request an ICN site for any of the sessions, send an e-mail to Debbie Fiscus at debbie@iptv.org indicating the sites and dates at which you will attend. Questions about E-rate should be forwarded to Pamela Pfitzenmaier Jacobs (Pam.Jacobs@iowa.gov or 515-975-0071).

Let me know how I can help you.
