Child Development Associate: General Information
Subject Area:

Purpose:

This training will educate all early childhood professionals on what a CDA is, how to help mentor others through the process, and what resources are available in Iowa.

Target Audience:

  • Any early childhood educators who may be able to assist assistant teachers and teachers with the observation visit necessary for the Child Development Associate (CDA) credential
  • Administrators and program supervisors of voluntary preschool programs, licensed Child Care Centers (including preschool programs and Head Start agencies licensed through DHS), and Child Development Homes
  • Early Childhood Consultants from Area Education Agencies, CCR&R, ISU Extension and others who serve voluntary preschool programs, child care centers, Head Start agencies, and Child Development Homes

Learning Objectives:

Upon the completion of this workshop, the participants will be able to:

  1. Describe the process of becoming a CDA.
  2. Identify the key requirements of acquiring the CDA.
  3. Articulate what other services exist to help practitioners earn their CDA.

Sessions are provided at no cost to PK-12 students and the adults working with or on behalf of PK-12 students in Iowa.
