School Food Service 2012
This three day program will provide up to date information for all school food service personnel.
This 20 hour course contains two School Nutrition Association approved classes that meet the Nutrition Education and the Sanitation and Food Safety components in the Level I Certification requirements with SNA (School Nutrition Association).
Food Safety and Sanitation
August 7, 2012 from 8:00 AM – 4:00 PM and continued on August 8, 2012 from 8:00 AM – 12:00 noon.
This 10-hour course uses the curriculum “Serving It Safe” 3rd edition. It is designed specifically for school nutrition personnel who will learn how to implement methods of sanitation and safe food handling, in all areas of food production and service.
School Food Service Nutrition 101
August 8, 2012 from 1:00 PM-4:30 PM and continued on August 9, 2012 from 8:00 AM-4:00 PM.
This 10-hour course is designed for school nutrition personnel. Healthy eating is an important life skill that can be established early in childhood. Your work in child nutrition provides a unique opportunity to make an enormous difference in the diets, knowledge, and future health of students. The intention of this course is to help participants develop insights into nutrition standards, and regulartory guidelines, then apply this knowledge to create and provide healthy menu offerings at school.
Audience: K-12 School Nutrition Personnel
Presenter: Rebecca Ballantyne, SNS, SNA Certified Trainer
Fee: Food Safety and Sanitation - $90.00, and School Food Service Nutrition 101 - $90.00. Payment covers CEU's, materials and presenter fees. Cost for both courses, 2 sessions, 3 days, is $180 which includes presenter fees, materials and CEUs. Sessions priced individually are $90 each which includes presenter fees, materials and CEUs. Please check with your school district to see if they will cover the class costs or if you will need to pay yourself. If you are paying personally, an Iowa Community College representative will contact you regarding payment.

Registration: You will be asked to provide your name, home mailing address, your personal daytime phone contact information where we can reach you between July 23-August 9, 2012, cell phone, and payment or billing information.
You will need to go through the registration process for each class, separately. Once your registration is submitted, watch your inbox for a confirmation/denial email for each session. If you are denied, IPTV is happy to help you find an ICN room that will work.
Registration deadline is July 20, 2012. NO EXCEPTIONS!
