Join staff from Des Moines’ Blank Park Zoo to learn about what it takes to be a zoo keeper and many other jobs needed to keep things operational. The choices may surprise your students! Just think about all the technologies zoos are using today. There are animal curators; web designers, folks to keep the plants looking good, marketing staff, special events coordinators and the list goes on and on.

Educators know that in grades seven and eight, Iowa schools are required to offer career education including exploration of career opportunities. This process is designed to help students complete a high school and career development plan. (The 8th grade plan) The session for 7-9th grade is a great resource for schools needing to help students in this critical work in planning their futures. The high school session will provide valuable information for students who have an interest in a zoo related career.
