Iowa Public Television

Born and raised near Mt. Ayr, Iowa, Dr. Peggy Whitson completed two six-month tours of duty aboard the International Space Station and was the first female commander of the orbiting science laboratory. She has accumulated 377 days in space, the most for any woman. Whitson also has performed a total of six career spacewalks, and her total of 39 hours and 46 minutes of EVA (Extravehicular Activity) is more than any other woman.

Teachers and students are invited to participate in an ICN sessions with Dr. Whitson as she discusses her background and experience as an astronaut and commander of the International Space Station. We will also take time for Q&A.

Confirmed registrants will receive a complimentary book pack including titles If You Decide to go to the Moon, Seeing Stars, or alternate titles.
