Teachers bring your students to this interactive session so they can experience some early career education AND enjoy a book.
Joining us will be a sergeant from the Des Moines Police Department. He has been a police officer for 16 years. He is a great example of a career professional that has climbed the ranks within the department. Keeping his skills current for his newest challenge has been important since he has recently been promoted to public information officer for the largest police department in Iowa.
He will talk briefly about some of the important skills police officers use every day in their work. Some of those skills include math and science and of course, communication skills are very important! He will share with your students that police officers are our friends and it is their main priority to keep us safe.
He will read a story from an age appropriate book that demonstrates some of these concepts from one of his favorite books.
Your students will have a chance to ask him questions so be ready for a fun and lively interactive experience!
