This is a taped version of a session that occured in the 2012 school year.

Renewable and sustainable energy practices have captured the attention of people around the globe, particularly wind energy, for its endless abundance and ability to deliver utility scale power at a competitive cost.

What nature provides, people must shepherd, from the installation of turbines, to the care and maintenance needed for decades of reliable power generation. The need for highly skilled workers who can build and service these mega-machines continues to grow. With a workforce of wind energy pioneers making way for a new generation of wind energy technicians, Iowa Lakes Community College continues to be a leader in wind energy education. First in the nation to offer an Associate in Applied Science Degree in Wind Energy and Turbine Technology, Iowa Lakes Community College has led the way since 2004.

Join this session for the opportunity to talk with the program director from Iowa Lakes Community College. He will talk with your students about the career field in general and what they can do to prepare themselves for this challenging career pathway for those who want to have an impact on America's energy future.
