K-12 Connections Event
Zoo Friends: Kinds of Creatures
Subject Area:

Please join educators from the Blank Park Zoo for this awesome ICN experience! Young students come skin to scales, fingers to fur with members of the animal kingdom. Learn how animals are divided into groups by their body coverings; mammals have fur, reptiles have scales, etc. Learn fun facts and meet live animals representing the mammal, reptile, amphibian, and bird groups. Wrap-up with a craft reinforcing the different animal coverings. The program also allows time for student questions, so come prepared.

Registering teachers agree to provide the following materials for use in the ICN room:

  • Worksheet with animal outlines (legal size paper) - Download and print from the Kinds of Creatures worksheet.
  • Glue sticks
  • Small craft feathers
  • Large size sequence
  • Fake craft fur
  • Cling wrap squares (one 4 inch square per student)

Following the ICN session, participating classrooms receive Look to the North or similar title for their classroom libraries.

Other Blank Park Zoo ICN events include:
