K-12 Connections Event
Interesting Insects
Subject Area:

They're creepy and they're crawly, but they're awesome! Students learn what it takes to be part of the largest group of animals in the world. Join naturalists from the Warren County Conservation Board to explore the weird world of insects. Learn about the insects native to Iowa and the benefits of specific insects.

Students will make anteannae, please supply each child with the following materials:

  • A strip of foil approximately 3 feet long.
  • Two pipe cleaners.
  • Beads or Styrofoam balls may be added to the tips of the pipe cleaners.

Following the ICN session, registrants receive the complimentary books, I Like Bugs and Big Bugs or alternate titles.
