Entomologists are scientists who study insects and their relationships to the environment, humans, and other organisms. Join Dupont Pioneer entomologist Dr. Laura Higgins to learn more about the fascinating world of insects and why it is so important to study them.

Ms. Higgins is currently a research director for Pioneer but has held a bevy of positions in the past 20- plus years with the company. She enjoys telling students what great careers can be found in the sciences while being a great example of a woman working in the sciences.

She will talk with your students about what got her interested and her educational path. She’ll also talk about what students can be doing now academically if they are interested in a career like hers.

Please sign up soon as space will be limited for this session. And the rumor is that she may bring some of her crawly friends!

Sessions are provided at no cost by Iowa Public Television in collaboration with the Iowa Communications Network to PK-12 students and the adults working with or on behalf of PK-12 students in Iowa. If you are not employed by a school district or an AEA please register at library sites only.
