Subject Areas:

    Science
Do you have students who are interested in sports? Physiology? Health…anatomy? Teachers and counselors, bring your students to this exciting session. Your students will learn about a great career field that will only continue to grow. Projected growth for this field is 30% in the years 2010 – 2020 and students can work in almost every state in the country in this profession!

Our presenter has been an athletic trainer (AT) for 15 years at the University of Iowa. In his position, he works to support collegiate athletic teams. He must be available and present to treat athletes at games and matches involving University of Iowa sports teams.

Working with college teams is not all an athletic trainer can do in their career. Companies such as Cirque du Soleil hire ATs as do rodeos, industry and a variety of other organizations that one would not even imagine. There are opportunities to work with school districts, in physician offices and at community sporting events to name a few.

In addition to his duties with athletes, our presenter is doing some administrative work in the Athletic Training Education Program at the University of Iowa. He will explain the academic details as well as the requirements to get accepted to this competitive program. He will also tell your students what they should be doing in high school to prepare for a career as an AT.

Teachers, be sure to print off the resources provided in our resources section for your students… and be sure to sign up to participate today!
