PLEASE READ THE EVENT DESCRIPTION THOROUGHLY. PRINT THE DESCRIPTION, AND RETAIN IT FOR FUTURE REFERENCE. Visit with a pioneer woman (a naturalist from the Polk County Conservation Board) as she relays the changes in the Iowa landscape and how these changes have affected wildlife. She will also explain what life was like on the prairie. Students will get an opportunity to guess the use of many household items used during the 1800's. The interactive program also allows time for student questions, so please work with students in advance to prepare a couple of appropriate questions. Following the ICN session, registrants receive a complimentary Laura Ingalls Wilder book or alternate title. Other Polk County Conservation Board ICN events include: Monarch Tagging Insects Spiders Bats Animal Winter Preparation Unhuggable Animals Mammals of Iowa Mammal Tracks Cosmic Connections Owls Habitats Amazing Reptiles To Be a Seed Sing a Song of Science
