Each day, 800 million people in the world go hungry. 300 million are children. Two former U.S. Senators are credited with starting an international school feeding program that has helped children around the world get at least one meal a day.
Former U.S. Senators Robert Dole and George McGovern are honored by the World Food Prize for their lifelong commitment to helping feed the hungry. The World Food Prize, headquartered in Des Moines, Iowa, focuses on achievements made to alleviate hunger through science, agriculture or humanitarian efforts. (27:46)
