Wine Industry in Iowa (Full Program) (Episode 314)

posted on December 18, 2009 at 10:49 AM

The Iowa wine industry has grown to more than 390 vineyards and 74 licensed wineries. This past summer, the federal government designated part of Eastern Iowa and several other Midwest states as the Upper Mississippi River Viticulture district, the largest wine region in the country. This episode of The Iowa Journal will examine several wine operations, their size and scope, how the state can help them grow, and what else can help grow the Iowa wine industry. In the studio to talk about the future for the wine industry in Iowa are three guests: Mike White of the Iowa-based Midwest Grape & Wine Industry Institute, Barb Rasko, publisher of Make Mine Wine magazine, and Ron Mark, the owner and operator of Summerset Winery in Indianola.
