A native of Minneapolis and graduate of Bowdoin College, Amy Johnson Boyle earned her masters degree in journalism from Northwestern University in 1987. After serving as a reporter and anchor at KGAN-TV in Cedar Rapids for more than 13 years, Amy left TV in 2001 to become Director of Marketing & Public Relations at Coe College. She accepted a position at the Cedar Rapids Area Chamber of Commerce in 2003, where she currently serves as Director of Marketing & Communications. Amy is extremely active in the community. She serves on the boards of directors of the American Cancer Society, Red Cedar Chamber Music, the United Way of East Central Iowa and the SPT Theatre Company Board. In 2004, Amy served as the volunteer chair of the six county United Way of East Central Iowa campaign – becoming only the third woman in that organization’s history to lead the local effort. Amy’s recent honors include being named 2003 Woman of the Year in Cedar Rapids; a 2005 Woman of Influence by the Corridor Business Journal; winner of the 2005 John B. Northcott Award by the United Way of East Central Iowa; and the 2005 Outstanding Volunteer Fund-Raiser by the Eastern Iowa Chapter of the Association of Fund-Raising Professionals. Amy is especially proud of her family – husband Tim, President & CEO of the Cedar Rapids Area Convention & Visitors Bureau, and stepson Danny, age 25.
