Jessie Field Shambaugh and the Roots of 4H Jessie Field Shambaugh was an educator and innovator in the early 1900s in Iowa. She is said to have been the 'mother' of 4H. Iowa Public Television gathers first-hand stories from people who knew her, including her daughter and a 107-year-old former student.
