His Holiness the 14th Dalai Lama of Tibet presented a keynote address on "The Power of Education" at the University of Northern Iowa. Here's a short excerpt from his speech.

I asked some scientist the size of brain, up to what, what stage - have the ability to express appreciation of others? Because I doubt mosquito doesn't have that kind of ability to appreciate, because sometimes I give blood to mosquito - no sign of appreciation.
The real demarcation human being and non-human being is the human brain. So, we have this special sort of equipment, so called brain. That potential to create - imagination, visions, and that also possess some very strong sort of, powerful memory, like that, and very sophisticated brain.
So, that's why human, due to human intelligence in human circle language, script, these things develop. So, I think one of the most sort of advance human being is education.
