The IPTV cameras took a few hours to see a 'vertical' wind turbine being installed in Ankeny, Iowa. These turbines can work lower to the ground, and therefore can be built less expensively.

Wind turbines, some of them 100 feet tall, are becoming Iowa's new 'energy crop.' But the technology is continuing to take new forms. The IPTV cameras took a few hours to see a 'vertical' wind turbine being installed in Ankeny, Iowa.

These turbines can work lower to the ground, and therefore can be built less expensively. They are now nearly as 'efficient' as the horizontal versions. They can be up to 50% efficient in collecting the wind.
