Rep. Steve King says he supports the 35% threshold for candidates in a primary election. However, he says if a candidate doesn't reach 35%, he would prefer to see a runoff election between the top two candidates, rather than have the nomination decided by delegates to a convention.

Rep. Tom Latham has faced criticism from some Republicans for supporting the compromise that ended the government shutdown. Rep. Steve King says he and Latham have different roles in Congress and that it's not a good idea, in his opinion, for a Republican primary opponent to challenge Latham.
