Barta and Pollard say high salaries for coaches are market driven and justified

University of Iowa Athletic Director Gary Barta says a cap on coaches' salaries would make his job easier. However, he and Iowa State University Athletic Director Jamie Pollard agree that the market drives high salaries for coaches and the money pays off in the long run with recruits and overall revenue generated.
