Iowa Press Congressional Debates Announced

JOHNSTON, IA – Iowa Public Television today announced a series of debates among those seeking to represent Iowa’s congressional districts. The four Iowa Press Debates will be held on-site in each district, and will each be broadcast live statewide on Iowa Public Television.
 
The schedule for the debates is as follows:

  • Third Congressional District: Rep. Leonard Boswell (D-Des Moines) and Rep. Tom Latham (R-Clive) - Thursday, October 11 live at 7 p.m. from the Arts Center at Iowa Western Community College in Council Bluffs.
  • Second Congressional District: Rep. Dave Loebsack (D-Iowa City) and John Archer (R-Bettendorf) - Tuesday, October 16 live at 7 p.m. from the Des Moines Area Community College Conference Center in Newton.
  • Fourth Congressional District: Rep. Steve King (R-Kiron) and Christie Vilsack (D-Ames) - Thursday, October 25 live at 7 p.m. from the Santa Maria Winery in Carroll.
  • First Congressional District: Rep. Bruce Braley (D-Waterloo) and Ben Lange (R-Independence) - Thursday, November 1 live at 7 p.m. from the Grand Opera House in Dubuque.

Each debate will be hosted by Iowa Press moderator Dean Borg. Panelists will include Radio Iowa’s O. Kay Henderson joined by regional reporters covering the different contests. Debates will be rebroadcast on Iowa Press during the program’s usual times – Fridays at 7:30 p.m. and Sundays at noon. Debates will also be streamed live online and archived at www.iptv.org/iowapress.
 
Members of the public are invited to be in the audience for the debates. There is no cost to attend and no reservations are required. All guests must be in their seats by 6:45 p.m., and no admittance will be allowed after 6:45 p.m. Questions and feedback from the audience will not be permitted as part of the television production.
