Gronstal, Upmeyer agree on K-12 funding focus

Senate Majority Leader Sen. Mike Gronstal (D-Council Bluffs) and Speaker of the House Rep. Linda Upmeyer (R-Clear Lake) both say funding for schools will be one of the first issues tackled in their respective chambers and perhaps the first major bill passed during the 2016 legislative session. However, as in past years, Republicans and Democrats in each chamber seem likely to disagree on total dollar amount appropriated to K-12 education in the budget.
