IPTV Invites Iowans to Be More Involved
During Festival, March 1-16
(Johnston, Iowa)- Iowa Public Television will invite Iowans to be more involved by showing their support for outstanding programming during Festival, March 1 - 16. This celebration of Iowa Public Television’s best programming showcases the statewide service enjoyed by Iowans all year long.
This year, as always, IPTV will provide a unique slate of programming designed to entertain, enlighten, and inform Iowans, featuring several special guests in IPTV’s studio. The complete list of programs can be found at www.iptv.org. Highlights of these programs include:
Programming About Iowa
Iowa Public Television is committed to telling Iowa’s stories, and Festival provides an opportunity to showcase local programming. On Sunday, March 2 at 6:30 p.m., IPTV will premiere More Than a Game: Six-on-Six Basketball in Iowa. This new IPTV documentary takes a look at what this unique style of basketball meant to the generations of girls who played it. Don’t miss the story of this sport where young women became queens of the court and communities rallied behind their daughters.
Dan Kaercher has traveled across the Midwest discovering one-of-a-kind destinations, and in his new special, he focuses on Iowa. In Best of Iowa, Kaercher visits popular attractions and discovers hidden gems close to home. This new program premieres Thursday, March 6 at 8 p.m., and will be rebroadcast Saturday, March 8 at 8 a.m.
On Sunday, March 2 at 2 p.m., Brenda Watson will be in the IPTV studio to go through her easy-to-understand R.E.N.E.W. process. Watson offers viewers a step-by-step plan to eliminate toxins from their home and environment while detoxifying their bodies to maintain a healthy life in Brenda Watson’s Detox Strategy.
The new The Brain Fitness Program airs Tuesday, March 4 at 8 p.m. This features a scientifically based program designed to keep people intellectually strong no matter how old they are.
Dr. Michael Roizen will be in the IPTV studio on Saturday, March 15. His special YOU: Steps for Extending Your Warranty with Dr. Michael Roizen airs at 11:30 a.m. Dr. Roizen provides an easy action plan to combat the forces that cause the most damage to the aging body. Then at 1 p.m., YOU on a Diet with Dr. Michael Roizen, features an easy plan of action to re-program the body to fight fat and control weight and waist gain.

Johnny Cash fans will want to see rare gospel musical performances during the all-new special The Gospel Music of Johnny Cash, which airs March 1 at 5:30 p.m. Listen to gospel performances and interviews with family and friends who help to tell the story of Cash’s spiritual journey.
On Sunday, March 2 at noon, a new Celtic Thunder will showcase an all-male Irish group that performs ballads, popular hits and heart warming songs from across the Celtic music spectrum.
Also on Sunday, March 2, Great Performances: James Taylor: One Man Band, airs at 9 p.m. This new concert performance of Taylor’s greatest hits also includes personal anecdotes and never-before-seen home videos and photographs.
Northern Lights: An Evening with Sissel and Friends airs Monday, March 3 at 6:30 p.m. Join popular Norwegian vocalist Sissel as she performs with José Carreras in an elegant evening of music.
Daniel O’Donnell will be at IPTV on March 5 to present an all-new pledge special, Daniel O’Donnell at Home in Ireland at 8 p.m. O’Donnell performs at a new concert hall in Letterkenny, located in his home county of Donegal, Ireland. The special will be rebroadcast on March 9 at 6 p.m.
Johnny Cash: A Man and His Vision explores the country music acts featured in The Johnny Cash Show, one of the most innovative television variety shows in history, on Thursday, March 6 at 7 p.m. The special will be rebroadcast on Wednesday, March 12 at 11:30 p.m.
André Rieu: In Wonderland, airing Sunday, March 9 at 11 a.m., offers viewers a chance to enjoy André Rieu, his Johann Strauss orchestra, and vocalists as they perform stunning melodies in this magical special recorded at Holland’s Efteling. It will be rebroadcast on Wednesday, March 12 at 8 p.m.
Monday, March 10, all seven Osmonds reunite to perform many of their best-selling hits on The Osmonds 50th Anniversary Reunion at 6:30 p.m. The program includes video clips, historic photos, and celebrity guest appearances, including Andy Williams.
On Thursday, March 13 beginning at 6:30 p.m. The Grand Ole Opry’s Vintage Classics is hosted by Vince Gill. This special is a collection of taped Opry performances from the 1950s – 1970s. Then at 8 p.m., catch My Music: Country Pop Legends. Host Roy Clark joins viewers as several country pop legends unite to perform their hit recordings from the same era.
John Tesh Alive: Music and Dance, airs Saturday, March 15 at 4:30 p.m. Tesh presents an unforgettable fusion of music and dance with a cast of nearly 100 singers, dancers and musicians.
Arts and Crafts/How-To Programs
The craftsmen of Woodsmith Shop will be in the IPTV studio to present episodes from their new series made right here in Iowa. Learn more about Frames and Panels the Easy Way and Hand Planes, Scrapers & Chisels on Saturday March 1 at 1:30 p.m.
On March 3 at 6:30 p.m., Blenko: The Spirit of American Stained Glass examines the influence Blenko glass has had on American stained glass and art glass. Richard Blenko will be in IPTV’s studio to help present this program and discuss his glass creations. This program will be rebroadcast on Saturday, March 8 at 12:45 p.m.
Diane Roupe, host of Blue Ribbon Cooking, and the winner of state fair blue ribbons for her cooking, will be in IPTV’s studio to present her special, which airs on Saturday, March 8 at 9:30 a.m.
Sara Moulton is a working mom who has to cook fast and wholesome meals each night. On Saturday, March 8 at 10 a.m. she will be in IPTV’s studio demonstrating how to put flavorful, healthy food on the table with minimal fuss during Sara’s Secrets for Weeknight Meals.
For quilters, Iowa’s own Marianne Fons and Liz Porter are the very best. And, during Festival, Marianne and Liz will record live in the studio for the second time. Last year’s all-live shows were a big hit! Tune in to see them do it again on Saturday, March 8 at 3 p.m. with Love of Quilting Live 2.
