Build Reading Skills with new Electric Racer Game!
February 11, 2011
Electric Racer is a new, intergenerational digital game designed for 6-9-year-olds to play with their parents, caregivers, or other adult family members to help build reading skills in a fun and engaging way.
Using The Electric Company’s vibrant characters and themes, Electric Racer is a fast-paced driving game that encourages active involvement from the adult player in scaffolding children’s literacy learning, while both players work cooperatively to score points by collecting phonemic sounds and unscrambling words.
You can preview this game at: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WhnKQoMHX_Y and download the game at http://www.pbs.org/parents/electriccompany/electric-racer.html
This is a great resource to share with parents and after-school caregivers!
Electric Racer was created with generous support from the Corporation for Public Broadcasting (CPB) through the U.S. Department of Education's Ready to Learn (RTL) program, and developed by Sesame Workshop in partnership with the Entertainment Technology Center at Carnegie Mellon University.
