IPTV's KDIN Again Most-Watched Nationally

IPTV’s KDIN is Most-Watched Public Television Station in the Nation for Second Straight Ratings Period
(Johnston, Iowa)— Iowa Public Television’s KDIN (Channel 11) in the Des Moines-Ames market is the most-watched public television station in the country, according to Nielsen Media Research and TRAC Media Services. KDIN ranked #1 in both the February and May 2012 sweeps periods.
KDIN, part of Iowa Public Television’s statewide network of stations, ranked first among public television stations nationwide in diary whole-week cumes in two consecutive Nielsen sweeps periods. Iowa Public Television only measures audience numbers in the network’s largest viewing area, the Des Moines-Ames market, because of budget constraints. Iowa Public Television analyses have shown that the results for KDIN are typically similar statewide.
“With so many options available to viewers today, it’s particularly rewarding that our viewers are using our services in such strong numbers,” said Daniel K. Miller, executive director and general manager of Iowa Public Television. “Iowans are responding to our coverage of Iowa and our unique mix of programming, and we’re pleased to see that trend continue for another ratings period. We remain committed to providing all Iowans with educational services, broadcast programming, and online services that are second to none.”
Iowa Public Television measures audience numbers on an annual basis, tracking both current numbers and viewership trends.
