Ethanol: On the Monday, October 29 edition of The Iowa Journal

October 26, 2007

(Johnston, Iowa) – Monday’s episode of The Iowa Journal  will explore the ethanol industry. The program airs Monday, October 29 at 6:30 p.m. on IPTV. It will be rebroadcast Friday, November 2 at 9 p.m. on statewide IPTV-Plus and will also be available online at Iptv.org.

Can an industry that is tax-payer subsidized, whose product's use is mandated by the government, and whose foreign competition is hampered by protective tariffs, be successful? Ethanol has been a boon to Iowa corn farmers, and has recently been pressured by a sharp reduction in prices. Guests on the program include Monte Shaw of the Iowa Renewable Fuels Association.

News analysis, including a look at the AARP Republican forum on October 25, will be given by Iowa Public Radio’s Jeneane Beck. And a musical essay by Waterloo native Bonnie Koloc will also be featured.
