Shop Series'
Affectionately
called the "M-Shop," The Maintenance Shop is an
intimate, 150-seat music club located in the Student Union
at Iowa State University in Ames, Iowa.
Through
university grants and ticket sales, the M-Shop has been
able to attract a diverse group of nationally recognized
artists in a plethora of genres over the past quarter of
a century.
Iowa
Public Television combined resources and personnel with
the M-Shop to videotape three separate music series from
the late 1970's through the mid-1980's, including 19
one-hour jazz programs. These programs were also broadcast
nationally on PBS and many have been broadcast internationally,
including western Europe, northern Africa and Japan,
