Story Time in Dubuque and Bettendorf!
Bettendorf at 11 a.m. on January 24 at the Family Museum!

Things that sting, such as scorpions and wasps, rarely make good birthday presents!
Dan's Wise Advice of the Day:
Things that sting, such as scorpions and wasps, rarely make good birthday presents!

Maybe that's because when I do story time
I rock the boat a little!
And when I do story time I like to think outside the box!
Sometimes when I do story time I learn something new,
like this awesome all-star karate chop!
But no time for karate chops! I needed to get on
the train for the Family Museum that afternoon!
Something wasn't quite right with a few of the kids there,
although I couldn't put my finger on it!
Nothing a little help from the Food Pyramid can't fix!
Check out the cool new Kids Art additions I received!
Dan's Wise Advice of the Day:
Flying squirrels will never reveal their secrets,
not even in exchange for cereal!

Everyone there enjoyed yesterday's story time, and I was
almost convinced to stay as a permanent library superhero!
But it was time for me to head to my next stop,
the lovely little town of Durant!
Durant, of course, was also filled with library lovers!
In fact, you could say some of them are "heavy" readers!
Apparently there was a heated mayoral race between
two of the townsfolk, Mr. Green and Mr. Beardy!
But the surprise winner was the lime-green beekeeper ghost!
Dan's Wise Advice of the Day:
Please remember, if you are sitting in the crowd at a circus,
it is generally frowned upon to try to hypnotize the tightrope walkers!

Next I discovered a key to time and space
and foolishly unlocked a door to another dimension.

In this weird new dimension I was the king of Davenport.

But then I started to grow and grow,
and the next thing I knew, I was bigger than the whole town.

Luckily, a couple of dimensional experts helped me find a portal
to get me back just in time for Bettendorf's story time!

But this wasn't the Bettendorf I knew -
everything seemed so upside down!

In fact, I discovered an exact copy of myself made out of balloons!

The meeting of the real Dan and the balloon Dan caused a rift in time and space,
and I was blasted back to earth just in time for the Cat in the Hat to read me a story!

Dan's Wise Advice of the Day:
Never play the game "Duck, Duck, Goose" with a real duck or a real goose.
The same goes for the lesser known game "Tiger, Tiger, Skunk" -
never play with a real tiger or a real skunk!
