Another useful resource in providing experiences and opportunities to explore health and safety themes from the HEALTHY KIDS GANG curriculum are the programs on Iowa Public Television.

At this site you can find what programs will be airing in the coming weeks that relate to one of the twelve curriculum units of HEALTHY KIDS GANG.

First, select a curriculum unit. That will take you to a list of children’s television series that relate to the curriculum unit and have a relevant program that will air in the coming four to six weeks.

Second, choose a series. That will take you to a list of specific episodes from that series that are scheduled for broadcast soon. If you click on the episode titles, that will take you to a detailed description of the episode so you can see how the theme is presented in the program.

Third, plan to record the show for your use. While use rights are different for some series, in general, taping the show off and air and using them in an educational setting (including child care) is permissible for up to one year. This web site allows you to plan ahead so you have programs that go along with your lesson plans when you are ready to present them. Now you have some useful, powerful and fun support in helping teach children about these important areas.
