The Shows (Feature 1336.323)
Lost Boy

Three-year-old Ray Elliott disappeared from his home in Marengo in 1893. More than a year later a young boy was returned to the grieving parents. But was he the right boy? Watch Living in Iowa to find out.

Old Creamery Theater director and playwright Tom Johnson wrote a play about the incident and helped solve the hundred-year-old mystery using modern DNA technology.

Was the “Lost Boy” Ray Elliott- or was he someone else? Thanks to a newly written play, and DNA evidence, we now have the answer to that question.

In the fall of 2002, the DNA results were announced in the same Marengo courtroom where the mystery began. Contrary to local residents' and Tom Johnson's suspicions, the surprising DNA results confirmed that the return boy was in fact Ray Elliot.
