Prairie - Rainforest Connection

Karin Stein is an environmentalist, a professional musician, and mother, not necessarily in that order. Karin believes she is suffering from, but at the same time enjoying, cultural and geographic schizophrenia. She says she is someone who lives in two places every day. Physically she lives in Iowa, but there is always a part of her in Costa Rica. Karin's grandfather moved to Columbia from Germany in 1926 to become a logger. Three quarters of a century later Karin along with her brother and sister are working to stop the logging and preserve the rainforest near their father's farm in Costa Rica. Their goal is to raise 3 million dollars that would be used to buy out the logging operation and preserve a local watershed.
