Farragut
(Side Roads) Broadcast 05/20/01 In 1870 the people of Lowland in Southwest Iowa said "Damn the torpedoes! Full speed ahead!" and renamed the town Farragut after Admiral Farragut, the Civil War hero. Every since then the memory of this man of the sea has been firmly anchored in a landlocked community where even the streets are named for events in his life.
