Thomas Sutherland: At Your Own Risk
Broadcast 08/22/03 On June 9th of 1985, Iowa State University graduate Tom Sutherland was taken hostage by the Islamic Jihad in Beirut, Lebanon. For six and a half years Dr. Sutherland was held captive. It is the second longest period of time any Western hostage has ever been held hostage and his years of captivity have provided him a unique perspective concerning the other side. In a recent Living In Iowa interview Dr. Sutherland shares both his experience as a hostage and views on terrorism.
