The Man Behind The Iowa Girl
Broadcast 01/02/04 In September E. Wayne Cooley retired as executive director of the Iowa Girls High School Athletic Union, a position that he held for 48 years. There are many that believe Mr. Cooley is responsible for making Iowa, what Sports Illustrated described as, "a utopia for girls' athletics." Living In Iowa sat down with Mr. Cooley to talk with him about his nearly half a century of service to the "Iowa Girl" and his role in her development.
