The Opera Heard Around the World
Broadcast 01/16/04 Every year at Riverside Middle School in Carson, Iowa, the 6th grade students produce an opera as a learning experience. The class divides into committees for all of the positions to get the opera on stage such as; sets, costumes, music composition, public relations and actors. In an effort to expand the learning curve even higher, they decided to co-produce a performance with another school, not from a nearby town but from across the atlantic ocean, in Sweden. The students and teachers soon realized that they were in for the experience and trip of a lifetime.
