The Shows (Feature 1423.849)
Bridging the 'Digital Divide'

The Imagine Iowa series continues with a profile of a small phone co-op that is offering its customers and community state-of-the-art communication, frequently at no charge.

The effort has extended the reach of local business around the world, but more importantly it may be filling a communications vacuum left by the absorption of local radio and newspapers by giant media conglomerates.

Western Iowa Telephone serves the communities of: Bronson, Castana, Climbing Hill, Holly Springs, Hornick, Lawton, Moville, Oto, Rodney, Smithland and Turin.
